Do you Like to Hike—We Have Great Nature Trails

A beautiful system of trails winds through the hardwood forest on our Chapter Property. Pass under towering stands of oak, hickory and tulip poplar. Beginning in late March, watch for the lime green flowers of spice bush, and ephemeral wildflowers like spring beauty and bloodroot, followed by flowering dogwood. A variety of wildlife call this forest home, including deer, foxes, squirrels, songbirds and wading birds.

Start behind the Chapter House on the Emma King Nature Trail. Walk along the old Mill Race to pass the cold water spring that feeds a small pool favored by wood frogs and spotted salamanders. Cross the Mill Race to a beautiful view of Great Seneca Creek from the bluff on your way to the American chestnut orchard, or continue across the creek on our suspension bridge to relax at the Jim Berrier Memorial Lake.

Nearby, the Seneca Creek Greenway Trail in Seneca Creek State Park offers miles of hiking opportunities.
