Jim Berrier Memorial Lake
The chapter’s lake is an oasis in the middle of Montgomery County, located at 12057 Clopper Road, Gaithersburg, MD. The three-acre lake provides members with an opportunity to fish, camp, have cookouts and relax. While you are at the lake, enjoy the scenery and take the opportunity to see wildlife, plants and birds. When visiting the lake, please follow the Lake Rules.
James W. Berrier was a charter member of the chapter and was an avid sportsman and conservationist, and served as Chapter president in 1948. He was the prime mover in the construction of the new chapter house. In recognition of his contributions, the lake bears his name. More than 300 people turned out for the dedication ceremony where Congressman Dewitt Hyde was guest speaker. The lake was dedicated on June 21, 1958 – the 25th anniversary of the chapter.

Directions to the lake
The address of the lake is 12057 Clopper Road. Some navigation systems cannot find this location. If you are proceeding west on Clopper Road, pass the Seneca Creek State Park entrance (on the left-hand side). On the right-hand side of the road there are three yellow directional signs. After the third sign is a YELLOW rock. The entrance is between the yellow rock and the guardrail on Great Seneca Creek. Be careful as the entrance is narrow. If you cross the stream, you've gone too far.
If you are going east on Clopper Road, immediately after crossing the bridge over Great Seneca Creek you will see an address sign and the entrance is on the left-hand side. Be careful as drivers don't expect someone turning left!
